Weather and Power Outage Resources

Our region is prone to weather-related disruptions. For Barton Home Health & Hospice patient safety, prior to expected storms or weather events, we encourage you to review the personalized emergency management plan completed with you at your initial home visit and keep the following items on hand for your safety:

  • A seven-day supply of essential medications
  • Cell phone fully charged
  • List of emergency contacts and important numbers in one central location
  • Standard telephone (that does not need to be plugged into an electric outlet)
  • Flashlights and extra batteries
  • Emergency non-perishable food and water
  • Assorted sizes of re-closable plastic bags for storing, food, waste, etc.
  • Small battery-operated radio and extra batteries
  • First aid kit
  • If you use C-PAP, BiPAP, oxygen concentrator, mechanical ventilator or any other electric medical equipment, have a home back-up plan in case you have a power outage. This may include a back-up battery or a generator.
  • If you use an oxygen concentrator please ensure you have enough emergency oxygen tanks.
  • Working carbon monoxide and fire detectors in every room of your home

If weather conditions are such that your Home Health & Hospice teams are not able to make it to your home, the staff will communicate changes in scheduling with you and coordinate a time to visit as soon as possible. If you have any concerns regarding the accessibility and/or safety of your home please call Barton Home Health and Hospice at 530.543.5581
