Barton's board-certified OB/GYN physicians are trained in vaginal birth after a cesarean, or VBAC, and the Barton Family Birthing Center offers this option in a medical environment for mothers who have previously had a baby via a C-section delivery.

A tour of the Family Birthing Center is included in our Childbirth Preparation Class. Private tours are available by request.

Family Birthing Center

Barton’s Family Birthing Center offers beautiful, spacious suites for expecting families and their babies. Expecting parents will labor, deliver and recover in their own private birthing suite that include amenities such as rocking chairs, flat screen televisions, refrigerators, wireless internet access and private showers. Each room has a fold-out bed so family members can comfortably spend the night.

The atmosphere at The Family Birthing Center is matched only by the expert level of care you receive. The Family Birthing Center maintains a care team consisting of board-certified obstetricians, pediatric hospitalists, pediatricians, and nursing staff that are committed to supporting and empowering expecting parents and their families.

UC Davis Children's Hospital Partner

Barton Health has partnered with UC Davis Children’s Hospital to increase Barton’s ability to care for at-risk newborns by providing access to UC Davis specialists and experts including a neonatologist, and neonatal specialists within the pharmacy, respiratory therapy and nutrition departments.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid designated Barton Memorial Hospital's Family Birthing Center as birthing-friendly, used to identify hospitals and health systems that participate in a perinatal quality improvement collaborative program to improve maternal health.

Cal Hospital Compare (CHC) includes Barton Memorial Hospital on their Maternity Honor Roll, based on hospitals hitting a national target of low-risk c-sections.

Low Cesarean Delivery Rate

CMQCC's Quality & Sustainability Award: Cesarean Delivery Rate is awarded to hospitals that achieved a target cesarean birth rate for three years in a row.
